Beginning November 19, the Xperia Z received a software update to 10.3.1.E.0.191. This update provides features and improvements

Check the software version

To check the current software version, follow these steps:

1. From any Home screen, tap Applications.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap About phone.
4. View the Build Number.
5. Read the version on the phone, and check it below:

Software version	Status
10.3.1.E.0.191	Your software is up to date. There are no updates available. This document will be updated if and when new software is available.
10.1.1.B.0.166	Your phone can update to software version 10.3.1.E.0.191: Review the Requirements to update Between November 19 and December 18, you may be prompted toupdate automatically (OTA). To update now, see how to download the update below.
Other versions	Your phone has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported. The manufacturer and T-Mobile cannot update your software.

Requirements to update

To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:

• 50% or higher battery life
• Data connection
• 200 MB available memory (File size of update: 185 MB)

Software update: Automatic (OTA)

Update automatically Over-The-Air (OTA)

This software update will be pushed to your phone between November 19 and December 18. Your phone will notify you when it is ready to update. If your phone has not received an OTA message, see Software update: Downloadbelow.

After receiving the OTA notification, follow these steps:

1. From the main Home screen, drag down the notification bar.
2. Check to see if the notification say Ready to download or Ready to install.
3. Tap on the software update notification.
4. If Ready to download:
   1. Tap on the X to the right of the software update.
   2. Tap the down arrow to download the software update.
   3. If prompted, connect to a Wi-Fi network.
   4. Wait for the download to complete.
   5. Select the install arrow that points to the right.
   6. Select Install.
   7. The device will reboot and install the software update.
   8. Click OK on the software installation confirmation screen.
5. If Ready to install:
   1. Select the install arrow that points to the right.
   2. Select Install.
   3. The device will reboot and install the software update.
   4. Click OK on the software installation confirmation screen.

You can download and install the software update:

From the phone

From a computer

Update software from the phone

To check for updates and download the update from the [OEM] servers, follow these steps:

1. From any Home screen, tap Applications.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap About phone.
4. Tap Software update.
5. The device will automatically check for an update.
6. If an update is available, tap on the X to the right of the software update.
7. Tap the down arrow to download the software update.
8. If prompted, connect to a Wi-Fi network.
9. Wait for the download to complete.
10. Select the install arrow that points to the right.
11. Select Install.
12. The device will reboot and install the software update.
13. Click OK on the software installation confirmation screen.

Update software from a computer

To download updates for your phone and install them using a computer, follow these steps:

1. Install the Sony PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/.
2. Connect your Xperia Z to the computer with the USB Cable.
3. If it doesn't happen automatically, open the PC Companion software.
4. Under Support Zone, click Start.
5. Click Phone Software Update.
6. The software update wizard opens and guides you through the update process.
