Upgrade and Save offers coming on December 11, $0 down on 32GB iPhone 5c, Note III and more [Rumor]
T-Mobile is hitting the holiday season hard. From Black Friday the company’s been rolling out a variety of special offers, including $0 down on handsets like the iPhone 5s and 5c, which have since gone back up in terms of initial down payment cost.
The next stage of the holiday discounts, according to one of our sources, is the second phase of an “Upgrade and Save” holiday offer.
Select users who are due an upgrade will be sent a message informing them that they’re selected, and be told the amount of discount that they’re due. This discount will range from $25 to $200. Beginning December 11, these direct mailers will be sent out with details on the preselected offers for each eligible user. Also from that date, the following handsets will be available for $0 down:

During the Black Friday weekend, T-Mobile had the numerous Samsung flagships available on a discount, and now the carrier is rumored to be preparing yet another sale as part of the second phase of an “Upgrade and Save” holiday offer. Under this offer, select users who are due for an upgrade will be informed that they’re eligible, and will be able to upgrade to the Galaxy S III, S4, Note II, or Note 3 for $0 in upfront payment.

Android 4.3 finally arriving for Galaxy Note 2 users
A little later than expected, but I guess late is always better than never. Android 4.3 has finally arrived for the Galaxy Note 2, a week or so later than was planned. A handful of readers have emailed/tweeted us to inform us that new software is available to download now. It should be available as an OTA update, but if it’s not showing up automatically, head on over to the settings menu and check manually.
Let us know if you’re seeing the update, and if you’ve managed to install it without any issues.
What the delay was for, we don’t know, but if it was anything like the delay for the other Samsung devices, it’s more than likely a few extra days to iron out a few bugs. T-Mobile Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889) getting Android 4.3 update
The Android 4.3 update for various Samsung devices is slowly but surely making its way to users in the past few weeks, and now it’s the turn of the T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy Note II to receive the much-awaited new version of Android. The update (build number T889UVUCMK7) is appearing on users’ devices since a few hours, and is available as an over-the-air update as usual. For those that haven’t received it yet, a check in the Settings » About phone » Software updates menu might help, or they can simply download the firmware from our firmware section and update manually.

China Mobile iPhone preorders start from Thursday, ship from the 18th
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that whilst China Mobile’s 4G services do not launch until the 18th, the carrier will open preorders for the iPhone from this Thursday, the 12th of December.
The information is sourced from a customer representative conversation the Journal had with the carrier, after attempting to preorder an iPhone today, after the Journal found a new advertisement for China Mobile’s 4G service on its website (shown above).
The representative said that iPhone orders begin on Thursday.
“Customers can begin to preorder for our new 4G services from Dec. 12 through the company’s website and some dedicated branches in Shanghai. But we will only start providing commercial 4G services after Dec. 18,” the customer services operator said.
China Mobile will offer the iPhone alongside a new pricing plan, although details of the new offer are currently not known. China Mobile’s website says 4G coverage will reach Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjian, Shenzhen and Nanjing by the end of the year.
Analysts are expectantly awaiting the iPhone’s launch on the worlds-biggest carrier, with some estimating that the partnership will be attributable for about 38 million of Apple’s total iPhone sales in 2014.

Understanding the software version
Beginning November 26, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 will have an optional software update to Android version 4.3 / Software M919UVUEMK2 via Over-the-Air manual pull down and Samsung Kies over Wi-Fi only. This update includes KNOX and Samsung Gear support.
You can update in two ways:
- Over the air (OTA) update to M919UVUEMK2: OTA manual pull down update is available over Wi-Fi only as of 11/26/2013 through February 1, 2014.

Installing Kies
- Download the most recent version of Kies by visiting http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ (Select the SAMSUNG Kies version compatible with the PC)
Note:- Save the file to a desired location - the Desktop is recommended for easy access.
- Ensure you are on the most recent Kies version. If you attempt to check for Kies updates manually through the application, older versions may not recognize that there is a new version available. Compare your version number (found in Help > Kies Info) with that available through Samsung (click the file to download, on the download screen, the file name will include 2.x.x.x.xxxxx_, this is the current version available).
- Double click the Kies file. The program will self extract, no action is required
- Select the desired Language and Location, then click Next.
- Read the license agreement, check the box for "I accept..." and click Next.
- Kies will begin the installation. No action is required.
- When the process is complete, click Finish.
Prepare the Samsung Galaxy S 4
Note: USB Debugging is only needed when using a MAC to Update via Kies.
- From the Android home screen, press the Menu key and tap Settings.
- Tap Developer options.
- Tap Ok.
- Tap USB Debugging.
- Tap the Home key to exit the settings menu.
- Insert the USB data cable into the phone and then into an available port on the computer.
- Select Media device(MTP) at the phone prompt. The PC should recognize several devices and begin installation. This is normal and may take a few minutes. Unplug the data cable when completed.
Upgrade the device to Android version 4.2.2/Baseband version M919UVUEMK2
Important: Verify you have backed up all of your data, including the contents of the internal (non-removable) SD card, to prevent unnecessary data loss.
- On the PC, open the Kies application.
- Connect the device to the computer using the included USB cable.
- Once Kies recognizes the device, a popup window will appear.
- Click Update.
- Read the Caution statements and select the I have read... check box.
- If desired, select Allow saving to back up the device. If not, select Proceed without saving.
- Click Start Upgrade.
- The software will download to the PC, and then to the device.
- When the update completes, the 'Firmware Upgrade Complete' window will appear.
- Click OK to confirm.

Apple starts selling unlocked, SIM-free iPhone 5s in the U.S.
Apple today released an unlocked GSM version of the iPhone 5s on its online store for the United States. This version of the iPhone 5s includes the same exact capabilities of the non-unlocked models, but does not include a SIM card. Users who buy this version of the iPhone will need to supply their own SIM card. The central benefit of an unlocked iPhone is that it can work on many GSM networks across the globe with no contract. For frequent world travelers, this option is worth looking into…
This unlocked model works on AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States, and also means that you will not need a contract with those carriers if you buy this specific model. The SIM-free iPhone 5s comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities for $649, $749, and $849, and it comes in the same space gray, silver, and gold color options as the carrier-tied versions. The models ship in 1-2 weeks from Apple’s online store, and should become available in Apple retail stores in the coming weeks.

T-Mobile Galaxy S III (T999) Android 4.3 Update Goes Live, LTE Version (T999L) Expected Soon
KitKat is tasty, for sure, but it's not the only Android flavor that gets users excited. Many users are still waiting for the latest version of Jelly Bean to arrive on their devices. Considering just how many Galaxy SIIIs Samsung managed to sell, that's a good number of customers who will be happy to know that their wait for Android 4.3 will soon come to an end. If you have a Galaxy S III running on T-Mobile, an Android 4.3 update may now be available for you to install.
This update brings in support for both the Galaxy Gear and Samsung KNOX. The thing is, this release is only going out to the T999, the original non-LTE version of the handset. The LTE version, the T999L, is expected to come out in several days.

The update is available both as an OTA and a manual install using Kies. It's 486MB altogether, so make sure you have a stable connection before getting started.
