LG: by 2018 40% of smartphones will be flexible

The company expects LG, flexible smartphones will occupy 40% of the total number of smartphones on the market by 2018. Recall, LG has introduced a smartphone G Flex, equipped with 6-inch curved display. However, the unit itself is not flexible - the rest of its components hard. One of the main problems with building a truly bendable smartphone is the battery, but LG already have development in this area.

As told Ramshan Wu (Ramchan Woo) - Head of Planning of mobile products LG, the company intends to start production of flexible batteries and other components for the next generation of smart phones LG G Flex. According to him, this is no easy task, but it will still be solved and will require even less time than it took to develop the LG G Flex - and it is about three years. It is assumed that by 2015 the share of flexible smartphones reach 15%, and by 2018 it will rise to 40%.
