Cheated.... by Nestle and Google, ditches on the promise of first 1000 to get Nexus 2013 in India...gives Nexus 7 2012 1B032A
Friends we have been cheated... There is no other word for what Nestle has done to the hopes of thousands of Indians who took part in the KITKAT contest with a hope of winning Google Nexus 2013 with latest OS Android 4.4 on it and as did the 989 winners who won the contest. This was the announcement the contest page made from day one :
All the contest winners were expecting the new Nexus 7 2013 which was released in India and is shipping for Rs.20999.00. And from the letter and image received from a fellow blogger, Mihir Wagle, it appears that Nestle is shipping this :

| Nexus 7 received by Mihir Wagle |
The irony is that the winners have already indemnified Nestle and Google by signing a 'No Dues Certificate' The NDC was signed in good faith by all the winners but it seems that Nestle is not keeping its promise. It is known the this contest was launched by Google and Nexus to announce the arrival of its new operating system Android 4.4 KITKAT and has been successfully completed in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia where the winners have beengiven the Google Nexus 2013. Why this discrimination against us, Indians. Somebody at the top of the organising committee is answerable for this.
Some naysayers may argue that what difference does it make for we have won Nexus 7 ? But in this day and age there is something called professional ethics. By not keeping the promise made of "You guys are among the first 1000 in India to take a break with the all new Nexus 7 tablet" the contest organisers have made a fool out of the winners.
Surely the contest organiser know that Google Nexus 7 2012 has thousands of users in India
I request all you winners to kindly come and comment on this post. This may wont change the outcome of the contest but I hope this will make the contest organisers aware that we Indians cannot be taken for granted...
A friend and a blogger Manu has posted this image online which clearly shows the model number of the Nexus 7 which is being given to us as a prize.
Another reader Dev Vaikul has aptly Tweeted this image which I think surmises our despair !!!

I request you to kindly like this post on Facebook, Tweet this on Twitter (you are requested to use the handle #nexus2013forIndia )and plus this post on your Google Circles and forward to as many friends, Indians and others so that they come to know what kind of raw deal we have got...
And hope that Nestle and Google realise their folly and send the latest Nexus 7 2013 to the winners!!!
A reader Ajit has sent this images which clearly confirm that we have been taken for a ride
Update :
Friends it seems that KitKat International was unaware of this entire episode. It has promised us via Facebook that it has spoken to its Indian counterpart and to get our issue resolved amicably. The message was received last night (6.12.2013) and since today and tomorrow are holidays we have to wait until Monday for KitKat India to respond.
Keep up the good work fellas

KitKat Nexus 7 Winners in India cheated ??
See the above picture. On to the left is the specification of Nexus 7 (2012) 16GB from Flipkart and to the right is the snapshot of the package shipped to Kitkat winners. Compare the part number and other details, and you know it is Nexus 7 (2012) 16GB version that is being given away to Kitkat Winners in India.

But all KitKat Nexus 7 winners (898 total) were expecting an All new Nexus 7 2013 version in their hand as written and displayed on Kitkat India website and their official facebook page. See image below:

And they clearly state on their official facebook page about which tablet the KitKat winners would be receiving.See Below image:

| Are they receiving "This" tablet ?? |
So why was the picture of new Nexus 7 (2013) shown on promo images everywhere when they had planned to giveaway the old stock Nexus 7 (2012) ?? Many of the contestants purchased over 500 plus KitKats packs, believing that they would get the "all new exclusive Nexus 7" 2013 but in the end could not win. They must be extremely disappointed after hearing this news.

Why are Indians always taken for Granted and made to look like fools ??
A Lame excuse given by Kitkat India at Twitter:
Google, do something before this news spreads like fire in social media !! and gives a bad name to Android KITKAT 4.4. Everyone knows that such contests play with the T&C line, but this case was a shocker to everyone who participated and contributed to this promo contest.

Winners Of KitKat's Nexus Promo In India Are Getting 2012 Nexus 7 Tablets Instead Of The 2013 Model Like Everyone Else
Android fans in India were happy to be included in KitKat's international Android 4.4 promotion and have the chance to get their hands on the 2013 Nexus 7. However, the prizes being sent out are not exactly as advertised. Instead of receiving the 2013 Nexus 7, winners in India are getting the old 2012 model. A multinational corporation not living up to its end of the deal? Surely you jest.
Winners of the Nexus 7 tablets in every other country were given the new Nexus 7, and those prizes mostly shipped out weeks ago. Only after a long delay did Indian winners get the brush-off with an old tablet. Several Indian sites have pulled together all the promotional materials used by KitKat India, indicating winners were promised "the all new Nexus 7 tablet." All the images were also of the 2013 model. There's also a Facebook group collecting user experiences. You can check all of that out for yourself, but suffice it to say this is at the very least disingenuous.
Indian users have been contacting KitKat, which has been hesitant to respond. The KitKat India Twitter account has also tried to calm the storm with a pretty lame excuse, as seen below. You can certainly make the argument that it's a free tablet and folks shouldn't complain, but this is pretty clearly not what the contest promised. Just ask yourself, would KitKat have tried to get away with this in the US? Of course not.

CyanogenMod 11 M1 lands for Nexus devices, CM 11 nightlies for others
M1 or nightly builds for many devices are ready for flashing
Falling right in schedule with the halting of development on CM 10.2, CM 11 M1 has just been released for Nexus devices. The latest release of a new version of CM is usually marked by the start of nightlies, but things are a bit different this time around. Because there are likely to be few bugs with the latest version on Nexus devices (excluding the Galaxy Nexus this time around), CM 11 for these devices will be open to bug reports and tweaks to benefit upcoming CM 11 releases for other devices.
Those other devices will start to receive standard nightly builds of CM 11, and because they're early on in development and are likely to have major bugs, you won't be able to immediately submit bug reports — that will come later as the changes settle down. Once usage picks up on nightly builds, we'll see proper M1 and M2 releases for non-Nexus devices.
You can head to the CM download page to see if your device has a CM 11 build ready to go at the second source link below.

CyanogenMod 11.0 M1 – Nexus Edition
No, that’s not a typo – you read that correctly. Today we release CM 11.0 M1 for all actively AOSP-supported Nexus devices – all variants of the Nexus 7, the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 10.
Some background on this change of order. Normally, this would be the point in time where we turn on CM 11 nightlies. From there, we would spend the next few weeks (or longer) in the nightlies, all the while not allowing you guys (the users) to offer support in the form of bug reports. Taking reports against the constantly changing nightly codebase is too resource intensive, but at the same time, waiting another month to get them going is, in all honesty, wasted time. So, with this change, we are going for the best of both.
The AOSP-supported Nexus devices should have minimal to no device specific issues (as their hardware code comes mostly from Google). We’ve also done our due diligence and tested these devices, to make sure they behave properly. Any bugs that crop up on these builds should be centered around CM issues – items that we’ve introduced. By acknowledging them sooner, the entire CM 11 roster will benefit.
Speaking of the rest of the roster, we will be enabling CM 11 nightlies for the non-Nexus devices as well. As the device tree’s for these other devices (including the Galaxy Nexus) are brought up by our team, it stands to reason there may be other issues that are yet to be discovered. We will be monitoring nightly usage and issues, and use that info to move towards adding more devices to the M1/M2 list and the eventual 11.0 release.
A follow-up post will be made with the full nightly roster by the end of this week. We’re off to go pick at the new Android 4.4.1 code.
Happy Flashing!
Edit: If you receive issues on flashing, double check your download. We are also hearing reports of issues with TWRP recovery, so for now, suggestion is to use ClockworkMod recovery.

Asus PadFone mini set to launch with 4.3-inch screen and 7-inch tablet dock next week
Asus has sent out invites for a launch event in Taiwan on 11 December which should see its PadFone mini revealed. It falls on a date that fits with Asus CEO, Jerry Shen’s confirmation back in September of a PadFone mini arriving for Christmas.
The PadFone mini should be a smaller version of the PadFone Infinity. It is expected to come in at 4.3-inches as a smartphone which will dock into a 7-inch tablet. This will give Asus the usual two sizes manufacturers go for with a 7-inch option available to compliment the current 10-inch PadFone Infinity with 5-inch phone. Of course Asus does have the FonePad 7 at 7-inches, but that's just a tablet with 3G connectivity.
According to the GCF listing the device will only support 3G. Although this may have changed as it seems hard to believe anything would come out as a flagship level gadget without 4G.
Any other details are scarce including a release date and price, though with an announcement this late in the year we’d expect a release in time for Christmas.

DisplayMate tablet shootout puts Retina iPad Mini in last place, with ‘out-dated technology’
DisplayMate, a company specializing in scientific display testing and calibration, gave the Retina iPad Mini third place in detailed lab tests of three leading 7-inch tablets, criticising Apple for “really bad planning” for what it considers to be out-dated display technology.
And finally… the iPad mini with Retina Display unfortunately comes in with a distant 3rd place finish behind the innovative displays on the Kindle Fire HDX 7 and new Nexus 7 [...]
All of this reliance on IGZO is really bad planning… Right now there is a readily available display technology that has much higher performance than IGZO. It’s Low Temperature Poly Silicon LTPS, and it is used in all of the iPhones and in all of Samsung OLEDs (so it’s available in large quantities). Two innovative tablet manufacturers, Amazon and Google, have significantly leapfrogged Apple by introducing Tablet displays using LTPS (in the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and the new Nexus 7), and they are significantly outperforming the IGZO and a-Si displays in the current iPads. Apple is now lagging in displays, an area where it was once the leader…

Mini Tablet Display Technology Shoot-Out
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 – Apple iPad mini Retina Display – new Google Nexus 7
Introduction
A new generation of Mini 7 to 8 inch Tablets from three of the major manufacturers has just completed with the belated launch of the Apple iPad mini with Retina Display. Together with the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 and new Google Nexus 7 (2013) they all should be, in principle, a notch down from the Large Size Flagship Tablets that we recently tested. But the Mini Tablets are growing rapidly in popularity and market share, so it’s a fiercely competitive category. As a result, they have some of the very highest technology displays with Quantum Dots, Low Temperature Poly Silicon, IGZO and/or high efficiency Backlight LEDs, all of which have a major impact on real image quality that we examine below.
The 7 inch tablet format was pioneered by the Barnes & Noble Nook Color, Amazon Kindle Fire, and (original) Google Nexus 7. After dismissing the smaller 7 inch tablets, Apple subsequently introduced in 2012 its own iPad mini, with a 7.9-inch 1024×768 display with a (surprisingly) much smaller Color Gamut and higher screen Reflectance than the existing models of the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7. A lot has happened to displays and display technology over the past year so this is much more than a rematch…
These new Mini Tablets all have higher than Full High Definition displays that have about 325 PPI Pixels Per Inch. At normal viewing distances a person with 20/20 Vision can’t resolve the individual pixels, so the displays appear to be perfectly sharp. With high resolution and sharpness taken care of (for now), there are many other equally important and even more challenging issues for Mini Tablets displays:
1. Picture quality as good or better than your HDTV (to entice you to watch downloaded content).
2. Excellent true color accuracy and accurate image contrast for high fidelity images of all viewed content.
3. Improved screen performance in high ambient light since Tablets aren’t used in the dark.
We’ll cover these issues and much more, with in-depth comprehensive display tests, measurements and analysis that you will find nowhere else.
Amazon provided DisplayMate Technologies with a production unit of the Kindle Fire HDX 7 to test and analyze for this Display Technology Shoot-Out article.
The Shoot-Out
To examine the display performance of the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, the Apple iPad mini Retina Display, and the new Google Nexus 7 (2013) we ran our in-depth series of Mobile Display Technology Shoot-Out Lab tests. We take display quality very seriously and provide in-depth objective analysis and side-by-side comparisons based on detailed laboratory measurements and extensive viewing tests with both test patterns and test images.
